Purpose: This position is responsible for developing a successful sales strategy for Hutson’s Governmental and Commercial product segments through a systematic relationship building process.

Responsibilities

  • Develops large territory through systematic contact with target segments, securing a relationship, and assisting in selecting from Hutson’s broad product offerings and associated programs.
  • Manages all transactions from the beginning to the end of the process by utilizing the Hutson business software system, as well as the John Deere Governmental and National Sales Program and other applications as required.
  • Maintains current product knowledge on features and benefits of all governmental and commercial product segments including, but not limited to: John Deere Turf, Mid-Tractor, Light Construction, Manitou material handling products, Diamond, and Alamo industrial mowers.
  • Focuses on developing selling strategies that increase market share for federal, state, county, town and village agencies as well as business to business, industrial, landscape contracting and maritime / port operations that are exclusive to the territory.
  • Utilizes Hutson’s Customer Relationship Manager system diligently and consistently to facilitate prioritization, frequency, and viability of both potential and current customers.
  • Monitors trends in customer’s business activities and timely communicates to management.
  • Maintains current knowledge of financing options to assist customers with securing the purchase of new and used goods.
  • Attends applicable sales training events/seminars.
  • Support management in the pursuit of corporate policies, plans, goals, and long-term objectives.

  • Participate in all business and/or department activities related to ensuring the customer experience is positive.
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments and adhere to all policies and procedures as specified in company manuals and as directed in the employee handbook.
  • Conduct self in the presence of customers and community so as to present a professional image of Hutson Inc.
  • Proactively seek and participate in available company-sponsored training, in an effort to develop and advance knowledge base and skill set.
  • Ensure that company’s reputation and image in the community is consistent with Hutson Inc. Core Values.

Qualifications

  • 5 or more years of sales experience, preferably in a territory development role, is required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance/Accounting, or an agricultural related discipline or related field, or an equal amount of demonstrated experience is required.
  • Extensive knowledge of John Deere and competitive equipment as well as technology trends/advancements.
  • Prior employment in a municipal entity with knowledge of contacts and purchasing cycles is strongly desired.
  • Business, financial, and logistical management knowledge.
  • Knowledge of relevant agronomic practices and trends.
  • Knowledge of key customer account agronomic operations.
  • Ability to use software applications such as Microsoft Office and internet functions.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
  • Excellent customer relationship skills with current and future decision makers.
  • Ability to think strategically and solve problems.

Additional requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License required.

General Physical Requirements

  • Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Reaching, Standing, Walking, Lifting, Fingering, Grasping, Feeling, Talking, Hearing, and Repetitive Motions.
  • Visual Acuity:
    • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts and/or operation of machines (includes inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly of fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
    • The worker is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations of facilities or structures.
    • The worker is required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment.
